Best Valentine's Memory...

February 2010 with another Valentine's Day just around the corner.  Where oh where are the days going?  It seems just yesterday I was writing about 1990 & where my life was then.  Now it's 2010 & who would've thought I'd be 'single' on Valentine's Day?  Thus being true though... I'll need to dig back into the past once again to think of my Best Valentine Memory.

I've thought long & hard all night thinking about this... I cannot & I repeat cannot remember any Valentine's Days in the past but two!  One long ago - 1980 - my first LOVE & JOY, my first EVERYTHING!  My first FIANCE' too.  His name was Robert, Bob for short.  He gave me a beautiful card with a lovely long stem rose & took me out to eat.  It was quite romantic!  Something that is only found in a 'fairy tale' it seems; compared to the rest of my life.

Like most, that relationship didn't last but over 2 yrs.  He was a year ahead of me in school; after his graduation he went on to work for his dad & college.   Our paths seperated; the last time I saw him was at his father's funeral in the 90's.  He had three beautiful blonde haired girls & a kind hearted wife.  :-)

My wish for you this coming Sunday the 14th is that you & yours have a Lovely Valentine's Day! :-)

M.B.H ~ 20 Yrs Ago

20 Years Ago ~ February 1990

Twenty years ago this month seems eons ago, even another life time... ha.   To start with I suppose, would be to give a short background.  I was in a loving relationship with a man who I'd met six years prior & continued dating since that time.  We were a nearly engaged couple of two months, Christmas of '89.   He had a beautiful daughter who I adored immensely altho she lived out of the area with her mother, we did see her often.  I'd met Heather when she was just 3 yrs. old!  Oh what an adorable doll she was!  And probably still is.

Jerry & I were living back in Grand Rapids, Minnesota by this time after a hiatus in the Twin Cities area where we'd both landed great jobs thru his step-mom, bless her heart!  We previous were both employed at a Ski Resort near G.Rapids when the owner had a mass-layoff and ended up closing the business.

Employment wise, I'd been working at Sammy's Pizza as a delivery driver - dishwasher.  Jerry was also employed and we maintained a small lawn care service which had grown from residential to commerical.   To speed up a bit, I suppose I'd say we were doing rather well :-)  We were two of a kind!  Our activities were always together... snowmobiling, skiing, canoeing, camping, swimming, fishing, bicycling... oh you name it, we enjoyed it together.  However, a year after having that marriage license prompted "control, jealousy, yelling, hitting & cheating."  What gives on that, I do not know... but where I thought my life was going at the altar turned out just the opposite.... I'm still living single and just now this past year have "really" been studying the Word of God.

The Bible... the Word of God... is the thing our marriage lacked.  Sure we got married in the church but it was about it!  Jerry had come from a Mormon background on his mother & step-dad's side which had "excommunicated" (?) him because we lived together before marriage to save on rent.  I'd come from a strong Lutheran background but by this time was rarely attending church or even reading the Bible.  We lived, we worked, we had fun but we did not keep God CENTERED between us...
Where am I today?  I'm living back in G.R. after making an awesome life for myself in Arizona for ten years, which I plan to return to one day!  You see, there's been a few heartaches in our family.  One being that the last of my siblings was killed in 2005, so I moved back to help Mom out.  I did not want to miss the last years with her as I did with my dear father.  He passed in 2000.
Again thanks for stopping by... I'd love for you to leave a comment below or email me :-)
